Warmzone® has been designing radiant heated driveways and snow melting systems for residents and construction professionals for almost two decades. We understand the demands of winter in Spokane and Eastern Washington, so if you’re considering a heated driveway or any other snow melting system, look no further than Warmzone. We’re proud to carry the most trusted systems and components in the industry, and our customer service is second to none.
Radiant snow melting systems are becoming more popular today for good reason. The systems have proven to be effective and reliable. Heated driveways are also fully automated and maintenance free, adding to the ease of owning one for homeowners. The systems rely on a high-tech snow sensor (activation device) to detect precipitation and temperature. This sensor is usually installed near the roof’s edge, or can be mounted directly in the driveway or area being heated.
When precipitation is detected and the temperature is below the sensor’s adjustable setpoint (typically 39°F), the device signals the contactor panel / controller. Power is then sent out to the heating cable embedded in the driveway or sidewalk, warming the pavement and preventing any snow from accumulating. The system remains on for a short time after the storm to dry the driveway, which prevents ice from forming.
Snow melting systems can be installed in a variety of mediums for just about any type of radiant heat application. The systems are commonly installed in concrete, asphalt, and under brick or stone pavers. Each heated driveway can be configured differently to accommodate the customer’s snowmelt needs and their budget. Entire driveways can be heated or the system can be installed to only heat an 8-foot wide strip in the middle, or perhaps two 24-inch wide tire tracks. The layout options are virtually unlimited.
ClearZone® heat cable is the most popular snow melting system cable of choice. Commonly used in concrete and paver applications, a specially designed version of the cable is also used for hot asphalt installations. (The cable is rated up to 460 degrees for up to 10 minutes.)
ClearZone radiant heat cable is available in individual lengths or pre-spaced in mats for quick, easy installation. The heat cable features a copper metal sheath and fluoropolymer conductor insulation with a polyolefin outer sheath. The cable carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
ClearZone radiant snow melting cable can also be installed in existing driveways. To heat concrete driveways, saw-cut technology is used. Channels are cut for the heat cable which is then installed in the grooves, and an epoxy sealant is applied over the cable. Sand is sometimes combined with the epoxy to provide additional traction.
To heat existing asphalt driveways, the heating cable is laid out over the surface to be heated and secured. A new application of asphalt is then installed directly over the heat cable. This is an easy and affordable process. The heat cable is also commonly installed under paver driveways and walks.
Warmzone also includes free installation training and technical support for installers. The training is conveniently offered online with an instructor via web conference. We know that the key to efficient radiant heat systems is proper installation. This is why Warmzone includes free training, system design, and installation support services. The installation training covers all aspects of your project to help ensure the system is installed correctly, and the training is typically completed in less than an hour. The installer can stop and ask questions at any time. Warmzone also provides complete system design services. Each system is thoughtfully designed by radiant heat experts to best meet the customer's snow melting goals, as well as their budget. These system layouts include all the information necessary for installers, including all the electrical information needed by the electrician. Our goal is to ensure that the system is installed properly, and the customer is satisfied.
